Same effect as being in the LAN but you are at the mercy of your bandwidth. That creates a direct map to the cloud server.

If they need access away from the office on a work laptop then I install Egnyte Drive. From there, I prohibit desktop sync unless they make a good case argument (dedicated home pc that's used for work, etc.). I implement Storage Sync in the SMB/Enterprise environments.
That's a lot of network congestion with respect to bandwidth regardless of your up/down not to mention what's happening on the local PC. With desktop sync you have every user doing on-demand sync with every file save. With Storage Sync there is only one sync point. If so, what is it hosted in (Hyper-V, VMware, etc). Next, find out if they use Storage Sync on their LAN. I've used damn near all the major sync services and ALL of them freak out if you sync a mass amount of files and folders. No prob.first thing I would look at is how much data are they syncing and how many local users. TLDR Company hates Egnyte, different better service? or File server? Any help would be gladly appreciated, and feel free to ask questions! I would just like to know some alternatives to this service, maybe even implementing a windows file server with VPN access. I did notice a NAS in their server cabinet which might be running the egnyte server and hosting their data. They have complained about many issues regarding the speed, and errors syncing their data to individual machines. I myself find that pretty stressful since it's a lot to take in with all the tasks that I will face in the future.īasically one of the key things they do not like is the file sharing service known as "egnyte".
